Two More Biglaw Firms Announce Their Intent To Combine In 2025
Law firm merger interest is at an 'all-time high' -- and it really shows.
Law firm merger mania is officially upon us, with two major mergers — Troutman Pepper and Locke Lord, followed by Ballard Spahr and Lane Powell — already having been announced this month. Law firm merger interest is now at an “all-time high,” and with the urge to merge in the air, two more firms have signaled that they’ll soon be joining together.
Today, Am Law 100 firm Womble Bond Dickinson and Am Law 200 firm Lewis Roca announced that they’d combine to create a 1,300-lawyer firm, with a total of more than $742 million in gross revenue based on last year’s numbers. The merger will take effect on January 1, 2025, and the firm will operate under Womble Bond’s name. The new firm will have a presence in the US and UK.
Womble Bond’s chair and CEO Betty Temple and chair and CEO-Elect had this to say of the pending merger:

Luxury, Lies, And A $10 Million Embezzlement
“One of the first parallels that emerged between our two firms was a shared strategic vision for serving clients in fast-growing cities and innovation hubs.”
As noted by Bloomberg Law, the united firm will be led by Benn and Lewis Roca’s Kenneth Van Winkle, who will serve as vice chair.
Congratulations to Womble Bond Dickinson and Lewis Roca on what promises to be a successful alliance.
